The Prime Minister visits The Melt Innovation Accelerator in Warners Bay
Scott Morrison was in Warners Bay this week announcing $50 million of funding for Newcastle University and UNSW. Mr Morrison made the announcement at The Melt, a local industrial prototyping lab and innovation accelerator where he examined local manufacturing prototypes. Local entrepreneur Steve Palmer of Safearth asked the Prime Minister “Have you ever soldered before?” which led to Mr Morrison soldering a joint for an AX1 Injection Source board which, when complete, will be sold to be used for Earthing System Testing in Australia or in Safearth’s export market.
The Liberal government plans to further support NSW researchers and inventors who create Australian products (such as Safearth’s locally manufactured test instruments).
Liberal candidate for Shortland, Nell McGill said the announcement was yet another positive for the Hunter.
“When it comes to investment in jobs and clean energy innovation, the Morrison Government is heavily favouring the Hunter region by investing here,” Ms McGill said.
“That’s because we have the tech brilliance, both in our private sector and within the Newcastle University, that I believe, will see our region produce new and improved sources of clean energy, and other innovations.
“This further support from the Morrison Government for our wonderful region provides jobs for us, and for our future generations. It’s just more great news.”
